The 2000 Peugeot Open de Espana will be played for the first time at PGA Golf de Catalunya in north-eastern Spain on April 27-30.
Venue for the Sarazen World Open last October and owned by European Tour Courses, PGA Golf de Catalunya was designed jointly by Neil Coles and Angel Gallardo. The 7,200-yard, par-72 course only opened last June and is set in undulating land with hanging pine and cork trees lining the fairways and the Pyrenees providing a spectacular backdrop.
Last year, Sweden’s Jarmo Sandelin claimed his third European Tour success with victory in the Peugeot Open de Espana at Real Club de Golf’El Prat’ near Barcelona while Denmark’s Thomas Bjorn won the Sarazen World Open.
