Mindcoaching for golfers worldwide

7.30am 12th October 2006 - People

A new product will use hypnotherapy to help golfers hole short putts and beat their nerves on the first tee – after just three listens.
A renowned hypnotherapist has teamed up with a leading golf teacher to launch a range of unique audio downloads and CDs to help golfers improve vital aspects of their game.
The new website – www.golfhypnotherapy.com – is dedicated to providing mind coaching MP3s and CDs that are specifically targeted to help golfers worldwide to cope with times in a round when pressure and anxiety can wreak havoc. And best of all, golfers need make no effort to ‘learn’ – if the user simply relaxes and listens to the words, the brain absorbs the programming naturally and automatically.
The CDs are available as finished product for retailers to sell, and the MP3s are available as downloads from golf websites under an affiliate programme.
‘Become A Deadly Short Putter’ and ‘Beat First Tee Nerves’ combine the proven mindcoaching skills of Tim Smale, one of the country’s leading clinical hypnotherapists, with tried and tested golf drills from Advanced PGA Pro, Chris Jenkins.
Smale and Jenkins have designed the products to give average golfers easy access to ‘their own personal game shrink’ – so they can benefit from high-quality mind coaching from the comfort of their own home.
‘Become A Deadly Short Putter’ focuses entirely on holing putts of 6ft or less, giving golfers subconscious mind coaching through hypnosis so they stay calm and relaxed when putting. It features specific tips, drills and information used by Jenkins throughout his career to help clients develop confidence and repeatable technique on the green.
‘Beat First Tee Nerves’ combines relaxation and visualisation techniques with pre-shot routine drills which, when absorbed through hypnosis, give golfers the mental skills to make a great start to their round – and keep it going through 18 holes.
The drills are similar to those used by the hotly-tipped young English golfer Oliver Fisher. Both recordings are available in CD or MP3 format, priced £12.95 and £9.95 respectively from www.golfhypnotherapy.com. More information is available by emailing info@golfhypnotherapy.com.
Smale’s clients include former Labour Party spin king Alastair Campbell and a host of sporting stars and high-profile business people. He believes a three-times-a-week, 35 minute mental masterclass – via the hypnotherapy MP3 downloads and CDs – could spell an end to short putt misery and tee-shot hell for millions of golfers worldwide.
“Golfers face numerous high pressure situations during a round, particularly in competition play, and nervous tension can cause even the best players in the world to ‘choke‘,” said Tim, 46, from his private practice off London’s Trafalgar Square. “Our aim at golfhypnotherapy.com is to create products that enable golfers to harness the power of their subconscious using a mixture of clinical hypnosis and executive mind coaching. Tapping into this in a golf context means golfers will absorb the information we provide and use it, subconsciously, to play better by using good habits.
“In order to modify a habit or behaviour or enhance a performance it follows that we must first access the subconscious mind and re-programme it. Our objective is to use hypnosis to access the subconscious mind to resolve issues quickly – and I expect golfers to see improvements to their game after listing to our CDs and downloads just three times.”
Chris Jenkins, the leading professional at Crowlands Heath Golf Club who has taught British golf prodigy Oliver Fisher since the age of 9 and helped him become the world’s #1 ranked amateur golfer, said, “Using a mind coach is like having an extra club in the bag. All the top pros have mind ‘gurus‘ but the average golfer simply cannot afford to have that kind of constant resource at their disposal.
“Golfhypnotherapy.com is giving casual golfers the chance to experience all the hints, tips and mind coaching techniques used by the pros – from the comfort of their own home. All they have to do is sit back and listen.”
