Where2golf.com – a treasure trove of inside knowledge

12.10am 6th October 2006 - Travel

As autumn days get shorter and the greens get soggier, golfers can start planning their perfect holiday by visiting Where2golf.com ( http://www.where2golf.com ). The UK based website details over 900 tried and tested golf courses in 17 countries worldwide. Australia and New Zealand were the latest countries to join its roster of tempting teeing grounds.
Set up by two avid golfers in 2003, Where2golf.com enables fellow golfers to organise and book golfing holidays or combine a business break with a few relaxing rounds. All the venues listed are individually rated and reviewed by a knowledgeable and professional team. The ratings use a five point scale based on course layout, condition and the surroundings, i.e. what can be seen beyond the course.
Nigel Butler, joint managing director of Where2golf.com, says, “Personally visiting and playing each featured course is central to the genuine golfer-friendly approach we offer. We can provide exactly what a travelling golfer needs to make an informed decision about where to play and where to stay. From high quality bespoke maps to tips on how to get there, we make sure no one gets stuck in the rough.”
Suzanne Lenaerts, co founder of Where2golf.com, adds, “Our business is not to be just another robotic golf directory – the whole objective of the site is to provide fellow golfers with a highly comprehensive source of worldwide golfing information.”
Designed with the golfer in mind, Where2golf.com is easy to use and offers the chance to discover hidden gems in a treasure trove of detailed guides, maps, photographs and hotel recommendations. The site provides contact details, green fees, and its latest tool – search by maps – allows golfers to drill down from a world map to each individual course. Just one click will provide a photo gallery for the course and a description based on first hand experience.
