It has been announced that Nakheel, the property development division of the state-owned Dubai World, will be receiving the funding necessary for the work to be completed.
Two years ago work was suspended on two of the four courses that make up Dubai’s Jumeirak Golf Estates project but in the last few days it has been announced that Nakheel, the property development division of the state-owned Dubai World, will receiving the funding necessary for the work to be completed.
“The government of Dubai has committed to providing significant financial support to Jumeirah Golf Estates. Our contractors have recommenced work at the development,” stated the company.
Jumeirah Golf Estates was planned to have golf courses named after each of the four elements but so far only the Earth (opened late 2009) and Fire (opened early 2010) championship courses, both designed by Greg Norman, are finished.
Together they provide the home for the Dubai World Championship, the climax of the European Tour’s ‘Race to Dubai’.
The future of other golf development projects in Dubai, including the partially-constructed Tiger Woods Dubai, which was planned to be surrounded by 22 ‘palaces’ and 75 ‘mansions’ remains uncertain.
