A carpet of wild flowers

12.15pm 7th September 2006 - Corporate

Three years after the successful launch of ‘Grassfelt’, Lindum Seeded Turf Limited has launched Lindum Wildflower, a ready made, living meadow – literally ‘a carpet of wildflowers’.
When grown straight from seed, wildflowers are notoriously difficult to establish and even small plug plants can struggle in existing grassy areas because of competition from aggressive grasses and pernicious weeds, as well as being labour intensive to plant.
For the golf course that would like to establish some wild flowers in the rough, Lindum Wildflower provides an instant solution and because of its strength it is also ideal for steep bank stabilisation.
More than 20 species of wild flowers, such as cats ear, oxeye daisy, yarrow and ladies bedstraw, combined with grasses in Lindum’s moisture retentive, biodegradable felt base, give all the practical benefits of Grassfelt to a wild flower meadow.
Lindum managing director, Stephen Fell, says that the felt acts a mulch and suppresses other weed and grass growth. As the felt biodegrades slowly, the meadow has ample time to establish into the substrate below.
Lindum Wildflower is available in variable roll sizes up to 2m wide by 20m long with prices from £12 per sq. m. depending upon quantity.
