Virtualcaddy.com – the world’s leading interactive golf course guide website – can now provide golfers with shot-by-shot course management advice for three of the UK’s largest forthcoming tournaments.
The website, which features hole-by-hole virtual tours of some of the most famous courses in the UK and Ireland, has just landed a triple whammy – signing up the K Club, Wentworth, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns, venues for this year’s Ryder Cup, HSBC World Matchplay and Dunhill Cup.
The graphically-illustrated virtual tours, complete with commentary from famous golf analysts, including Peter Alliss and Bernard Gallagher, give a unique insight into a pro golfer’s course management skills – highlighted to dramatic effect at Hoylake last month as Tiger Woods swept to victory in The Open with a world-class demonstration of straight iron hitting.
VirtualCaddy CEO Jim Martin said, “Virtualcaddy.com works on two levels. For a golfer looking to play a course featured on the site our information practically provides an extra club in the bag. Using low level aerial photography, animated graphics and voiceovers from each course’s expert, we are able to illustrate the perfect line from tee to green, highlighting the hazards and those nuggets of local knowledge along the way.
“And for the armchair golf enthusiast who tunes in to tournament coverage on TV, VirtualCaddy gives them a pro’s eye view, putting them in the player’s situation – right on the golf course. By using our site, the viewer gets an unprecedented guide to the type of shots the pros need to make to win. Tiger showed in The Open how critical course management is to achieving great results – and virtualcaddy.com can help golfers of all levels to visualise the shots and stay out of trouble.”
VirtualCaddy launched three years ago at Sand Martins GC, Berkshire, and since then more than 100 clubs have come online. All guides are based upon interviews with the Head Professional at each course – providing the equivalent of a 4 hour course management lesson. Some of the latest courses to join virtualcaddy.com include Royal Lytham, Vale of Glamorgan, and Desert Springs in Spain.
The site is now in discussions with a number of USA golf courses and there are plans to provide golfers with a portfolio of around 500 top courses worldwide over the next five years.
Full membership of virtualcaddy.com costs just £30, or golfers can pay £5 for a single course guide.
