The 12-page summer issue of International Golf Pro News is now available on-line and is the first issue to be presented in this form only. From now on, two of the four issues will be delivered in this way, namely summer and winter, whilst keeping the spring and autumn magazines as a printed copy.
The summer edition contains all of the usual features covering the activities of the PGAsE along with profiles of some of the personalities and other items. Something that will be of particular interest across Europe is an article about the Ryder Cup European Development Trust, a new company formed for the purpose of accruing profit from the staging of the Ryder Cup matches and passing it on in a structured manner for the well-being of the sport.
The amateur federations and PGAs throughout the PGAs of Europe member countries are invited to apply for grants to aid projects designed to develop golf throughout the continent.
Also revealed is the news that the Quinn brothers, the new owners of The Belfry, are considering undertaking some further changes to its Brabazon course, to be completed in time for the 2007 Quinn Direct British Masters tournament.
Dave Thomas, who originally designed the course some 30 years ago in partnership with Peter Alliss, is submitting an outline scheme. If accepted and agreed work will begin later this year and consideration may be given by the European Tour to move the Masters back from its May slot to September, by which time the re-designed holes could be ready.
