Join the Ryder Cup Wales Club

12.20am 28th June 2006 - Sponsorship & Events

Businesses are being offered a range of packages to become a member of the Ryder Cup Wales Corporate Club. It is the first time that such a club has been established by a host nation in conjunction with the world-class event.
A limited number of packages are available – at platinum, gold and member level – which offer various benefits, including access to tickets to the Ryder Cups in 2006, 2008 and 2010; annual networking events, access to Ryder Cup Wales Summer of Golf events and entry to the Club’s Corporate Golf League.
The Corporate Club is aimed at allowing businesses, irrespective of size, the opportunity to be part of Ryder Cup from now, up to and including the main event in 2010.
Chair of Ryder Cup Wales 2010 Ltd, John Jermine, said, “When golf’s premier tournament – the Ryder Cup – comes to Newport in 2010, Wales will be hosting one of the world’s greatest sporting events. We believe that this unique opportunity is an innovative approach to involve as many companies, large and small, in the build up to 2010.
“We hope that a wide range of businesses will take advantage of the opportunities that the Corporate Club offers. We have identified a demand for the sort of benefits this club has to offer and while I appreciate a number of businesses will want to be involved primarily for the tickets, there will be a number of annual events exclusively for the members that will create excellent opportunities for building business contacts and relationships throughout Wales.”
Ian Woosnam – 2006 Ryder Cup captain – is Team Wales‘ official ambassador in the run up to 2010. He is on board to help further Wales‘ international profile and to maximise the benefits to Wales as a result of hosting the Ryder Cup. To celebrate the club’s launch, Ryder Cup Wales is set to stage an evening with Woosnam later this year.
Ian Woosnam said, “The Corporate Club is a superb way for businesses to get involved in the Ryder Cup. What a fantastic opportunity to become part of the exciting journey to Wales 2010.”
It is hoped that companies that join the Corporate Club will also help create a network of business ambassadors who will help to expand the wide range of opportunities that will be generated for corporate Wales from hosting the Ryder Cup.
Andrew Davies, Welsh Assembly Government Minister for Enterprise Innovation and Networks, said, “The Ryder Cup in Wales is not just a three day golf match in Newport, but a chance to raise Wales‘ profile across the world and to deliver real economic and tourism benefits for the whole of Wales. It is good to see that Ryder Cup Wales Ltd is helping businesses maximise the enormous opportunities available and we are the first host nation to create a corporate club.”
Roger Young, director of IOD Wales, said, “Ryder Cup Wales 2010 Ltd is being innovative in offering opportunities for businesses at a more local level to secure benefits at the event and in the run up to it and I hope many businesses take advantage of this.”
The packages have been designed by Ryder Cup Wales 2010 in conjunction with Welsh based funding solutions company Fusion. For further information please contact Fusion on 02920 494963 or e-mail rcwcorporateclub@fusionuk.org.uk
