Rainer Preissmann & David Krause

Rainer Preissman has succeeded David Krause as President of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects (EIGCA). The handover took place at the end of the 2011 EIGCA Conference and AGM held in Potsdam, Germany last week.

Speaking after his appointment at the Gala Dinner Rainer said; “It is a great honour for me to become President of EIGCA. I would like to congratulate David for the superb job he has done over the last two years and I am looking forward to continuing the important work of the EIGCA during my tenure.”

“In particular I will be keen for the EIGCA to play an active role in ensuring that the game of golf becomes more accessible and affordable. We’ll be continuing our discussions with other golf organisations, looking at ways of making golf more attractive and less time consuming in order to encourage increased numbers of players to take up the sport.”

Rainer Preissman has worked as a golf course architect since 1978 having graduated in Landscape Architecture at Technical Universities in Essen and Hannover. He spent 26 years with Deutsche Golf Consult and now runs Deutsche Golf Holding LTD.

Rainer was a founder member of the European Society of Golf Course Architects (ESGA) and joined its Board in 1994. As one of the ESGA representatives he played an important role during the merger talks with the British and French golf architects which led to the creation of the European Institute of Golf Course Architects in 2000. He has been a member of the EIGCA Council ever since, working for many years as Chairman of the Membership Committee.

Taking over as EIGCA Vice-President will be Peter Fjällman. Peter has worked in the golf industry for nearly 30 years and has a design office in Stockholm.
