FootJoy, the #1 Shoe and Glove in Golf, has launched its latest television campaign featuring the FootJoy-fanatic character, SignBoy. Accompanying SignBoy in this year’s campaign are some of the world’s leading players including Vijay Singh, Ernie Els, Davis Love III, Adam Scott, Chris DiMarco, David Toms, Luke Donald and SignBoy soulmateTim Herron.
The 2006 campaign finds SignBoy in the following scenarios: imagining the best day of his life during his birthday party, experiencing new job opportunities, gaining access to the player’s locker room, and even providing shuttle service after a rain delay. Matt Griesser, a Los Angeles-based actor has played the FootJoy enthusiast SignBoy character since the campaign’s initial season in 1999.
“The Sign Boy adverts have been incredibly popular over the years and this season’s spots are some of the best yet. They have the perfect blend of humour, product and leadership in communicating our brand message to the golf consumer. This campaign has achieved legend status and is a great vehicle for us to show how many great players choose FootJoy. They love appearing in the ads and have a blast working with Matt. They love being able to show their personalities away from their workplace!” said John Peal, FootJoy’s European marketing director.
FootJoy will run five spots in 2006: Birthday, Starter, Steam Room, Impersonation and Getting Lost. All the spots will showcase innovative FootJoy products, leading Tour professionals and the loveable SignBoy. The commercials started airing during Sky Sports coverage of the Buick Invitational in late January and will run throughout the season.
The SignBoy campaign forms part of another high profile advertising campaign for FootJoy that will feature heavily on Sky TV, the leading golf press titles and on-line. The focus will be on the new GF:II shoe, the DryJoys P.R.O. and the new FootJoy Red Label outerwear collection. FootJoy will also continue to promote its leadership position on the world’s tours.
