Links with history on line

12.15am 11th July 2005 - Travel

Four of Fife’s most historic golf clubs have launched their new website in perfect time for the visiting politicians, journalists and of course the thousands of visitors to St Andrews for the 2005 Open Championship.
The website www.linkswithhistory.com has been launched to promote the unique golfing product available to the visitor to Fife. Links With History is a partnership between the famous old golf clubs of Crail, Ladybank, Scotscraig and Lundin Links aimed at increasing awareness of these wonderful championship standard courses and highlight that there’s more to golf in Fife than just St Andrews.
“Of course we recognise the attraction and history of the Old Course but when the golfers, journalists and spectators are here we want to make sure that they‘re aware of the diversity and value and heritage of the courses around St Andrews,” said Jim Horsfield, administrator of the scheme and former secretary of Crail. “The Links with History golf card allows golfers to make a single phone call and now a visit to a single website and book four rounds of golf on four of the oldest courses in the country.”
The website site features information on the four courses, their history and full information on how to book.
