HowDidiDo Media Bucks Trend With Record Year

12.39am 3rd December 2010 - Media

Europe’s largest golfing community, HowDidiDo, has bucked the widely-reported trend of declining UK golf participants and is celebrating an outstanding 2010.

Registered members on the site – all of whom are bonafide UK golf club members – surpassed the 250,000 mark at the end of October, an increase of more than 50 per cent in the past 12 months.

Unique visitors to the site for the 11 months to the end of November 2010 stood at more than 1.5 million – an improvement of 400,000 on full year 2009 – and total visitor numbers have increased to almost 6.5 million.

In the same period, page impressions have surged to a remarkable 52 million, positioning HowDidiDo as one of Europe’s most influential golf communities.

The surge in popularity is based on unique golf club member access to tournament results, handicap information and playing statistics, coupled with the company’s ethos of concentrating on working with partner brands that enhance both the lifestyle and the game of its members.

HowDidiDo’s managing director, Barry Dyett, said: “These results demonstrate that at HowDidiDo we truly understand our market and what they look for in a community. We have worked hard to improve our services and to communicate with members on their terms and with information that enhances their lifestyle both inside and outside of golf.

“We already engage with them in many different ways and further service enhancements in 2011 will give even more depth to our appeal.”

HowDidiDo contains the results of more than 21 million rounds along with the handicaps and scores of in excess of 1.1m golfers. Standard membership is free and the plethora of statistics available allows any golfer to analyse and compare performance with other players at their own club or across the network.

The service is also available free to any golf club – and consequently its members – which uses the market-leading CLUB2000 software from Club Systems International which is in place at 1,500 UK clubs.
