Littlestone Golf Club has been presented with the first certificate marking completion of the auditing checklist system to The R&A course management best practice website, www.bestcourseforgolf.org.
On hearing they were the very first golf facility in the world to receive this accolade, club secretary Colonel Charles Moorhouse said, “Working through the best practice website proved most worthwhile. It emphasised the need to document all aspects of course management and to work closely with regulatory authorities. To receive this certificate is wonderful recognition for Malcolm Grand, head greenkeeper, and his hard working team.”
Tim Taylor, chairman of The R&A Golf Course Committee, and Steve Isaac, assistant director – golf course management, visited Littlestone to verify their achievement and were most impressed by the course and the management procedures being implemented.
“Littlestone is an excellent example of a well managed course and we are delighted they are the initial recipients of this certificate”, remarked Tim Taylor.
Littlestone is hosting the Ladies‘ British Open Amateur Championship this week and is a Local Final Qualifying Course for The Open Championship, when it is held at Royal St George’s.
Over 1,150 golf facilities from 85 different countries have registered to www.bestcourseforgolf.org.
