9.14am 25th November 2010 - Course Development - This story was updated on Friday, November 26th, 2010

Members of Bromborough Golf Club have approved a plan to improve facilities in their Clubhouse. The changes include provision of a high quality Conference / Function Room with views of the Course, first floor toilets, improved dining space, a lift to improve access for the disabled and an enhanced reception area.

Architects Barron Design have created the concept and Read Construction have submitted the winning tender. Work is expected to start early in the New Year with an opening date of April 2011.

Alisdair Mackay, General Manager, Bromborough Golf Club said: “These new facilities will be a significant improvement to the Clubhouse for our members and their guests and give us great flexibility to cater for parties of various sizes. Our customers tell us they enjoy our Course and rate it very highly and now these improvements to the Clubhouse will further enhance their overall experience.

“In order to help fund the work the waiting list for membership has now been cleared and we have a few vacancies for playing membership starting on 1st January 2011. A flexible joining fee package has been designed to spread the up front costs.”

Located in a mature part of the Leverhulme Estate at the heart of the Wirral Peninsula, Bromborough is renowned as “Wirral’s Parkland Jewel”. For over 100 years golfers have been tackling the distinctive 18 holes that play between 6,300 and 6,600 yards depending on the tees used.

Its quality can be evidenced by its selection to host the English Amateur Matchplay Championship in 2005, English Men’s Seniors Championship 2003 and the Cheshire Matchplay in 2010.
