Seve Ballesteros‘ brother Vicente has signed up for June’s World Trickshot Championship at Celtic Manor. Vicente is a highly respected pro in his own right and has coached his five-times Major-winning brother and Ladies European Tour pro Raquel Carriedo. One of four professional golfing brothers, Vicente is also a renowned exponent of golf trick shots and is a valued addition to an already impressive line-up.
The inaugural World Golf Trickshot Championship (WGTSC) takes place immediately after the Wales Open on 6th June. On that day, extraordinary shots will be the norm – tricks such as the ‘scissorhands‘, which involves swinging a club in each hand while hitting continuously a row of 30 balls; hitting three balls at once; driving from a range of extreme tees; driving while sitting on a stool or kneeling; using 2m-long drivers and, of course, audience participation shots. All those involved are professional trick-shot artists – Ballesteros, Jeremy Dale, Geoff Swain, Peter Cane, Dean Davis, Paul Barrington, John Wraith, Kevin Compare, David Haines, David Edwards and Peter Johncke – and have perfected their art to the extent they command huge fees for corporate entertaining and have displayed their array of skills to huge audiences at many PGA events.
The World Golf Trickshot Championship runs from 10am to 4pm and there are several interactive events running alongside the main competition: $1m is up for grabs in a hole-in-one competition, with other great prizes at stake in a nearest-the-pin challenge and a ‘keepy-uppy‘ contest.
