TaylorMade has announced that the revolutionary r7 quad driver won the Best Designed Sports Kit award at the Sports Industry Awards, which took place at Old Billingsgate in London last week.
The Sports Industry Awards celebrate the very best examples of sporting success. They are voted for by leading figures within the sports industry, including BBC’s John Inverdale and former Olympic Champion Sally Gunnel. The awards have become a benchmark to which many sports companies aspire.
The r7 quad fought off stiff competition to win the award, beating five other leading brands including: Asics – Gel 8 For, Molten – Molten G-Series Basketball, Newcastle Falcons – Newcastle Falcons Home Shirt, Speedo – FASTSKIN FS11 and the adidas 1 computerized shoe.
In addition to this achievement TaylorMade were also short listed, following a record number of entry submissions, for Best use of PR in a Sport Campaign and Sport Brand of the year, but just missed out in these categories.
Commenting on the award Rollen Jones, managing director for TaylorMade-adidas Golf, said, “It is a great honour and a privilege for TaylorMade’s r7 quad to have won the Best Designed Sports Kit at the Sport Industry awards. The r7 quad is the most revolutionary golf club we have ever produced and perhaps the most revolutionary product ever produced in golf. Since it was launched, less than a year ago, the reaction to the club has been amazing with it becoming the No.1 driver model on both the European and PGA Tours in addition to helping many amateurs in the game perform to their best. The Sport Industry awards celebrate the very best the industry has to offer and we are extremely proud that the r7 quad falls into this category”
TaylorMade’s revolutionary r7 quad, featuring moveable weight technology, has been a huge success both at retail and on Tour where it was used by Retief Goosen to win the US Open and has achieved No.1 status in the driver counts both on the PGA and European Tours.
