The European Golf Course Owners Association is delighted to confirm the support of the English Golf Union for their evening networking event on Wednesday 1. December 2010 during their annual Golf Business Conference, which takes place in London from 30 November to 2 December 2010.
The event, a dinner cruise along the River Thames, will conclude the first day of the 2010 EGCOA conference, and is a chance for key industry figures, representatives from the US and Europe’s national golf course owners’ associations, golf course owners, managers, golf course architects and suppliers to meet and network with fellow industry colleagues. The 2010 EGCOA Award ceremony will also take place on this evening.
The English Golf Union Limited (www.englishgolfunion.org) has served as the governing body of male amateur golf in England since it was founded in 1924. Based at the National Golf Centre in Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, the EGU is one of the largest sports governing bodies in England, looking after the interests of over 1,900 golf clubs and 680,000 club members. In 2009, the EGU were the recipients of the EGCOA Award for their significant contribution to the English golf business, and their provision of knowledge and support to course owners and operators in England.
“The English Golf Union (EGU) have been working closely with the EGCOA for three years now,” explains Paul Keeling, Club Services Manager, English Golf Union. “This relationship has been highly beneficial to us as a National Governing Body, as through the opportunity to network with Course Owners from across Europe, we can better monitor the changing landscape of the golf business and be pro-active in supporting our affiliate clubs to react to the challenges. For this reason, the EGU are happy to be supporting this year’s EGCOA Conference and we look forward to meeting delegates in London in December.”
“The UK is a major force within the golf industry,” says Lodewijk Klootwijk, EGCOA Director. “Player and golf course numbers in this region are amongst the strongest in Europe. We are delighted to bring our annual conference to the UK this year, and to have the added support of an organization of the caliber of the English Golf Union.”
