A silver celebration for Titleist

12.05am 7th July 2004 - Corporate

When the world’s best golfers gather for The 133rd Open Championship at Royal Troon next week, Titleist expects to have more reason to celebrate than most. Over the past 24 years, Titleist has established an unparalleled reputation for success at The Open and when the official ball count again confirms Titleist’s position as the choice of the majority of the field, the market leading ball brand will have been the most played ball at The Open for the 25th consecutive year.
The majority of the field will once again place their trust in advanced Titleist golf ball technology and Pro V1 players will no doubt mount a strong challenge to lift the coveted Claret Jug. Major winners Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Vijay Singh, Davis Love III, Mike Weir and defending champion Ben Curtis will head a legion of the world’s top professionals who will tee up a Pro V1 in a quest to tame the famous links.
The superior performance of Titleist golf balls continues to eclipse all others. To maintain the #1 position for 25 years is an incredible achievement as Jonathan Loosemore, Titleist’s manager of leadership promotion, comments, “Since the official and independent ball count first began in 1980 at Muirfield, Titleist has been the most played ball every single year. This is tremendous testament to Titleist’s golf ball designers who constantly strive to take golf ball performance to a new level. The players have a very important role too, as it is their feedback that allows us to design golf balls to truly fit their needs.”
