The forms have now all been collated for year 5 of the English Golf Union & English Ladies‘ Golf Association’s Junior Club Coaching Grant Aid scheme (1st April 2003 – 31st March 2004). The EGU and ELGA have announced that over 10,000 juniors have received coaching, of which 16% were junior girls – the highest figure to date in the programme.
Throughout the year junior golfers at affiliated golf clubs have participated in a series of coaching sessions with a qualified PGA professional, helping to develop their skills and maintain their interest in the game.
Year 6 (1st April 2004 – 31st March 2005) of this initiative is now well underway with many golf clubs taking advantage of the £125 grant aid to enhance their junior coaching programmes. Any golf clubs that have not yet applied are urged to do so, as only limited funding is available – once applied golf clubs have until 31st March 2005 to complete the coaching sessions and claim the grant aid.
