Oceânico is once again revelling in the success of the innovative World Kids Golf Championship. This year saw the largest and most competitive international field. With over 15 countries represented and over 100 kids competing, the event has demonstrated further Oceânico’s complete commitment to golf on all levels.
“We are proud to have worked closely with The Portuguese Golf Federation in creating this event for the second consecutive year. Without doubt investment in golf at a grass roots level remains a priority for us at Oceânico and we will continue to strive to give youngsters the opportunity to compete on a Championship course in Championship conditions. Huge congratulations must go to all the competitors and especially to Gonçalo Pinto the overall winner who excelled around Amendoeira scoring a 3 round total of 225 and winning by a magnificent 9 shots,” commented Chris Stilwell CEO of Oceânico Golf.
The event is part of Oceânico’s roster of first class events, with the highlight being the European Tour’s Portugal Masters in October this year. With further events such as the Oceânico Ladies Week also planned, Oceânico’s position as one of Europe’s leading golf companies remains at the heart of the Vilamoura based companies ethos.
“Having companies such as Oceânico invest so widely in the game of golf is something that all of us who play the game should be thrilled with. Events such as these are crucial for the development of the game and something dear to my heart. The more we can do to nurture the youngsters in the game, the better the future of golf will be,” commented 2009 Race to Dubai winner and Oceânico ambassador, Lee Westwood whose own UK based academies have been developing youngsters over the last year since their launch.
