Duo in partnership with the PGA

12.10pm 25th February 2004 - Travel

The Professional Golfers‘ Association is off to a flying start for 2004 with the announcement of a six-figure deal with Europe’s newest airline. Duo has signed a three year contract with the PGA to become its official Regional Airline Partner.
The deal provides the PGA with a ‘flights bank‘ and cash benefits, which will greatly enhance communication links between its Midlands and Scottish based offices and other PGA’s throughout Europe.
The new partnership has also been developed to raise the profile of duo’s services amongst business golfers and generate both inbound and outbound golf related initiatives across the airline’s routes.
Peter Spencer, chief executive of duo said, “We see this new partnership as an ideal opportunity to tap into the corporate golf market and develop links with golfers through the PGA club professionals both in the UK and Europe.
The airline’s extensive routes to 18 European cities out of Birmingham International and Edinburgh airports was a critical factor behind the PGA’s negotiations on the deal, as Mike Gray, commercial director of the PGA explained.
“We‘re delighted to have a regional airline partner on board, particularly with such strong links into Europe,” he said. “This will enable us to capitalise on new markets, such as the development of golf in Scandinavia, which represents a huge business opportunity for taking UK golfers to Sweden, Denmark and Norway in the summer months and vice versa throughout the winter, when their courses are closed.
He also highlighted that special airline deals would be available to their members and golfers would soon be able to access exclusive offers and travel packages through its website www.pga.info which is currently attracting over one million hits per month.
