Sentosa takes delivery of zero-emission E-Z-GO cart fleet

3.32pm 22nd August 2024 - Environment & Sustainability

Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore has further enhanced its sustainability credentials following the signing of an agreement for E-Z-GO to supply a new fleet of zero-emission golf buggies.

The deal will see 220 of Textron’s E-Z-GO’s state-of-the-art buggies used across Sentosa’s Serapong and Tanjong courses.

The sizeable fleet is powered by lithium batteries rather than traditional lead-based ones, meaning they produce zero harmful emissions, generate 95% less harmful waste than lead, are 15% more efficient than the next-best lithium competitor, and have a longer lifespan.

They also come equipped with several unique features, including the IntelliBrake automatic parking brake for improved safety, regenerative braking for unmatched efficiency and control, and a wrap-around bumper that provides superior protection for users.

Andrew Johnson, General Manager and Director of Agronomy at Sentosa Golf Club, said: “Teaming up with E-Z-GO in this way is another great step on our sustainability journey here at Sentosa. Every decision we make about the management of the course has our legacy and the future at its heart, and we believe this is another great way to protect the amazing environment we have here.”

Steen Scherff, Director, International Golf for E-Z-GO, said: “We are excited to be able to provide our vehicles to the historical Sentosa Golf Club and help them in achieving the sustainable efforts. We pride ourselves in being able to work alongside courses to give them every aspect of what they need in a vehicle to maintain the courses beauty and provide a superior experience for their guests.”

Sentosa’s sustainability record is a long, distinguished one. Under the umbrella of its GAME ON campaign, it was the first in Asia to introduce carbon products in the form of Biochar into its agronomy programme to help remove more carbon from the atmosphere.

A state-of-the-art irrigation system and agronomy equipment that creates efficiencies and minimises product wastage created by over-fertilisation and watering are other key pillars of the Sentosa sustainability strategy.
