Troon’s International division, the leader in providing golf and club-related leisure and hospitality services, has announced a strategic partnership with South Korean company SMARTSCORE, which will see Troon provide advisory services to five premier golf courses across Asia.

A collaboration which underscores its continued expansion in the continent, the new partnership will see Troon International work with Artitaya Bangkok, Artitaya Chiang Mai and Artitaya Kanchanaburi in Thailand (pictured), Borneo Country Club in Malaysia and Kingsrock Country Club in South Korea.

The services provided will include technical and advisory services to support the golf facilities globally, as Troon International will look to help clubs take on innovative solutions and best practices, ultimately to help provide visitors to the golf clubs the very best possible experience in line with Troon standards.

DJ Flanders, Executive Vice President of Troon International, said: “This partnership with SMARTSCORE is an exciting opportunity for Troon International to further expand our presence in Asia.

“By combining our advisory expertise with SMARTSCORE’s innovative IT solutions at these brilliant golf clubs, we can offer unparalleled support, driving them to the next level of operational excellence and customer satisfaction.”

Kingsrock Country Club is now the second golf club in South Korea that Troon International is engaged with, having recently announced a management agreement with Gold Hill Country Club, a brand-new golf course situated an hour from Seoul.

The three new clubs in Thailand will see Troon International add Thailand to its portfolio for the first time, whilst adding Borneo Country Club in Malaysia to its existing portfolio there, alongside the Ocean and Valley Course at the Els Club Desaru Coast.

The five golf clubs are owned by SMARTSCORE, a pioneering golf IT platform based in Seoul, South Korea, boasting over 500 golf courses and three million app users in the country. The company specialises in golf course operation solutions, score management systems, and big data analytics.

With a strong presence in the Korean market, SMARTSCORE and Troon International’s partnership will be key to both companies continuing to grow their influence, both in Asia and further afield.

Sung-Hoon Jung, Chairman of SMARTSCORE Group, said: “We expect this to be a significant moment for SMARTSCORE Group to gain global competitiveness, and we hope to become leaders in the global golf market, including Asia, together with Troon.”
