TaylorMade introduces Rescue Mid TP

12.45am 17th November 2003 - Corporate

TaylorMade Golf, maker of the Rescue Mid, an easy-to-hit alternative to long-irons, has introduced the Rescue Mid TP (Tour Preferred).
TaylorMade’s Tour Preferred line of golf clubs, which includes the R510 TP driver and rac TP Combo irons, is an authentic line of equipment designed with, and for, the finest players in the world. TaylorMade’s Tour Preferred Line optimizes launch conditions for tour professionals – and players that swing like tour professionals – equalling maximum performance.
“TaylorMade’s Tour engineers are the best there is at the art and science of interpreting what a tour professional likes, wants and needs in a golf club,” says Sean Toulon, senior vice president of brand management and creation for TaylorMade. “We‘ve employed that knowledge to create equipment that meets a tour pro’s requirements for what a golf club should look like, feel like and perform like. Hence the name of this line of golf clubs – ‘Tour Preferred.‘”
Specifically, the Rescue Mid TP is differentiated from the original Rescue Mid by its forward-positioned CG, which delivers a lower launch angle and lower spin-rate, allowing players that generate high clubhead speeds to hit the ball on a lower, more easily controlled trajectory. In addition, the CG is biased toward the toe, in order to increase the club’s workability in both directions.
Additional Rescue Mid TP features include:

TaylorMade’s Rescue Mid TP has proven extremely popular on tour – at the 2003 PGA Championship more than two dozen tour professionals put a Rescue Mid TP in play, including Fred Funk, Rich Beem, Retief Goosen and K.J. Choi.
“The characteristics of the clubs in our Tour Preferred Line, including the new Rescue Mid TP, are identical to the clubs that we make for tour pros,” says Toulon, “not ‘almost like,‘ not ‘similar to,‘ they‘re the same.”
Manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the Rescue Mid TP is £199 / graphite, £139 / steel and they will be available in retail from mid-November 2003.
