PlayMoreGolf has announced a new initiative that is designed to make the UK’s largest points-based golf membership platform more accessible, affordable and profitable to golf clubs across the UK.
In a move that will facilitate new long-term partnerships and create new revenue streams by removing potential barriers and containing costs, PlayMoreGolf will also support club growth strategies with this innovative new deal.
Under what is known as a ‘contra’ deal, PlayMoreGolf are offering to shoulder the financial risk by footing the bill for the annual fee for new partner clubs as they grow points-based members. Clubs will benefit from PlayMoreGolf’s marketing expertise to help them drive member numbers in a move that will create an extra dimension of income generation at courses nationwide.
Alastair Sinclair, CEO of PlayMoreGolf, said: “PlayMoreGolf was launched to make golf more affordable and accessible to people of all ages and from all walks of life and this new initiative will support our mission and help clubs prosper. Under the terms of our new ‘contra’ deal, PlayMoreGolf covers clubs’ annual fee from the income we generate for them, meaning there is no upfront costs and we take all the risks.”
As with most technology platforms, clubs pay an annual software fee, often referred to as a license fee. With PlayMoreGolf, the annual software fee covers licenses, support staff, customer service team, software upkeep, software improvements, onboarding, and a marketing launch plan.
Under the terms of the arrangement, PlayMoreGolf takes the value of the annual fee from the income it generates for the club. PlayMoreGolf will retain 100% of the revenue generated until the annual fee has been cleared and at this point, will then release income to the club monthly, net of costs.
Once contracts are signed, a 30-day marketing campaign is launched, at PlayMoreGolf’s cost, and the annual fee could be cleared within a month of going live.
PlayMoreGolf Chief Operating Officer Brad Chard, who has masterminded the new initiative, added: “We are always looking for new ways to grow the sport we all love and as we head into peak golf season, we are confident the ‘contra’ deal will be popular with clubs up and down the country. We are committed to working with clubs to launch new flexible membership categories to encourage golfers to head to their local golf course and this low-risk option for clubs will help the decision-making process. We are confident that this innovation will yield a healthy number of new members to kick off the collaboration and enable clubs to go from strength to strength.”
