The British Golf Industry Association(BGIA) has organised a seminar entitled “Understanding the Law relating to Commercial Agents” at which the speaker will be David Bentley, of Bentley & Co, solicitors from Leeds
The seminar will be held on Thursday, 30th October 2003 at Federation House, Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire and commences at 1.30 p.m. A buffet lunch will be available from 12.30 p.m.
Bentley & Co. are an independent firm of solicitors who specialise in the Commercial Agents (Council Directive) Regulations 1993 and David Bentley is an acknowledged expert in this area of the law.
The golf industry has a tradition of utilising the services of sales agents but many Principals do not fully understand the present law, resulting in disputes and compensation claims by Agents. This seminar will cover all aspects of the current legislation, including:
- Duties of a Commercial Agent to his Principal
- Duties of a Principal to his Commercial Agent
- Commission Payments
- Termination of Agency Contract
- Entitlement of a Commercial Agent to Compensation on termination

- Effects of EU Legislation
