South Africa’s Casey Jarvis has signed a staff player contract with TaylorMade as he begins his career in the professional ranks at this week’s Sunbet Challenge on The Sunshine Tour.
Casey, 19, has enjoyed a successful amateur career which has included winning a total of 18 times, five of which have come in professional events.
Breaking records along the way and becoming the first back-to-back winner of the African Amateur Stroke Play Championship (2021 & 2022), Casey is also the first amateur to complete the Golf RSA South African Swing Triple Crown, which includes the SA Amateur, the SA Amateur Strokeplay and the African Amateur.
Jarvis said: “I’m so proud to join Team TaylorMade and represent them on the pro circuit. Playing TaylorMade has been a big factor in my success so far – I think their products are the best out there which gives me confidence when I tee it up. I’ve also been lucky enough to build some great personal relationships with the guys there, so it’s great to have their support going into this next phase of my career.”
Mark Thistleton, TaylorMade’s Tour Representative, EMEA Sports Marketing, said: “At TaylorMade we are always searching for the next generation of players that have the potential and ambition to play golf at the very top level, as well as reflecting and aligning with our own ambitions of best-in-class performance. Casey demonstrates this perfectly and we are extremely excited to partner with him as he takes the next step in to professional golf.
“We first came across Casey as a 14-year-old in 2017 with his stand-out performances in junior golf in his home country of South Africa. Since then, despite a lack of playing opportunities throughout the pandemic, Casey has remained focused and patient and performed at all levels of golf, proving himself to be a multiple winner with the rare ability to shoot very low scores in the process. We are now looking forward to see him and his game develop further at the next level on an international stage.”
Having already had a taste of the professional winner’s circle, winning his maiden professional event on the IGT Tour January of 2019, Casey already has proven fundamentals to build a successful professional career. Paired with the successful start Casey has had to the 2022 season with a total of five wins and also securing his Sunshine Tour Card for the 2022/23 season, he has strong foundations for are the next building blocks on what is sure to be a bright career for this young talent.
Adrian Rietveld, TaylorMade’s Senior Tour Manager, added: “TaylorMade are delighted to partner with Casey Jarvis in the next phase of his golf career. What he has achieved to date at such a young age is impressive. All achievements with nothing else but TaylorMade clubs and ball makes us proud and validates the superb job our player development teams are doing all around the globe. We wish Casey many more successes as a professional for a long time to come and look forward to playing our part in his journey.”
