For the Open Championship next week, adidas Golf is launching a limited edition crested golf shoe. adidas will be selling just 200 pairs of embroidered Z Traxion Tour and Allura shoes featuring a ‘Claret Jug roundel’ on their heel. This unique footwear will only be available whilst stocks last in the Open Championship merchandising area in the tented village at Royal St. George’s.
The men’s white/black Z Traxion Tour shoes will retail at £110 and the ladies’ Allura at £80. The merchandising area is open from Monday 14th July until Sunday 20th July and interested golfers are recommended to buy early to avoid disappointment.
The Claret Jug shoe signals the beginning of a bigger project for adidas Golf Europe. From late 2003 adidas will be offering a crested shoe programme for golf resorts and green grass accounts: golf shoes featuring resort logos, with a minimum order of 24 pairs.
“We are very excited to be able to offer spectators such a unique memento of the 2003 Open Championship at Royal St George’s. Only our staff players have ever been able to own personalised golf shoes and the provision of the Claret Jug roundel logo marks the start of another exciting stage in the development of adidas Golf footwear,” said Richard Palmer-Jones, director for adidas Golf Europe.
