The St Andrews Golf Hotel is being sold through Knight Frank on behalf of MWB Group, owner of the Hotel du Vin and Malmaison hotel chains.

The company is selling because it cannot justify the six million pounds expense of converting the property into a Hotel du Vin. The group is also selling the Malmaison hotel at Leith near Edinburgh saying that they want to invest in a new and larger home for the Malmaison brand in Edinburgh. The landmark building on Leith’s shoreline is being sold for offers over £15m and the St Andrews hotel, with 22 rooms, could fetch more than £6m.

Property consultants Knight Frank are acting on behalf of the Malmaison Group. Spokesman David Reid said: “We’re delighted to be working with Malmaison to market both hotels. It’s obviously rare for such high profile businesses to come on the open market and as they are very competitively priced I would expect them to appeal to a variety of hoteliers, developers and worldwide investors alike.”
