The Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf & Spa has spent over £250,000 on its golf courses as part of a phased programme of improvements at the Cheshire-based resort.
The investment has seen the acquisition of new machinery and on-course equipment that will enable the course management team to significantly improve the practice facilities and the condition of its three layouts, the Donald Steel-designed Championship Course, the Premier Course and the nine-hole Arderne Course.
The resort has now completed phase one of the investment programme. Phase two, that is set to start later this year, will include bunker renovation, drainage plans, further machinery investment and path work renovations.
As well as this planned work, the Portal Hotel are also investing heavily in the golf management team, giving each course the structure to over deliver and provide a high level of consistency throughout the year.
The resort is currently seeking applicants for numerous roles, including a first assistant greenkeeper, seasonal greenkeepers, outside golf services team members and golf reception team members.
Ross Astley, Director of Golf and MHL Resorts Support, said: “This investment and planned growth of our team marks a significant commitment to keep the resort in world-class condition. Now that we have emerged from the pandemic and golf is in full swing again, we’re looking forward to improving the facilities and the condition of the courses to the highest level possible so that our members and visitors can enjoy the beautiful game on beautifully-kept courses.”
