12.05am 28th May 2003 - Travel

Ticket applications for The 35th Ryder Cup Matches from 17-19 September next year at Oakland Hills Country Club, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan are now being accepted by the PGA of America. Registration for tickets can be implemented online at www.rydercup.com from today and will be accepted until 15th August 2003. Registration is free.

The PGA of America expects the demand for Ryder Cup tickets to far exceed their ability to accommodate all requests, therefore, a random ballot to determine ticket purchasers will be held on 30th September 2003. Results of the random ballot will be announced on 15th October 2003. The attendance will be limited to 38,000 per day, but unlike previous Ryder Cup Matches, daily tickets will be available, which will allow more fans to experience the event.

A maximum of two weekly tickets, or, four daily tickets per person, may be purchased. Applicants will be charged for Ryder Cup tickets only if they are selected in the ballot. Payment will be accepted by MasterCard, Visa or American Express. There are three ticket options:

International Pavilion Ticket ($425) allows access to all six days of the Ryder Cup Matches, the opening ceremonies and the International Pavilion. This exclusive facility will be located on the grounds of Oakland Hills Country Club. There will be elaborate dà©cor, big screen televisions, upscale food and beverage, outdoor patio and a festive atmosphere unique to the climate controlled Ryder Cup International Pavilion.

Season Ticket ($275) allows access to all six days of The Ryder Cup Matches and the opening ceremonies.

Daily grounds tickets are available for Tuesday ($40), Wednesday ($40), Thursday ($75), Friday ($85), Saturday ($85) and Sunday ($100)

Official Ryder Cup Travel Packages, which include tickets to the Matches and accommodation, are available through Ryder Cup Travel Services – the official travel company of The European Ryder Cup Team – +44 (0) 161 486 1600. The Ryder Cup Matches are one of the most spirited, exciting and compelling events in sport – covering nearly 80 years, involving the greatest players in the world and producing some of the greatest moments in the game. Europe will defend the trophy they won with a stunning 15½ -12½ victory over the United States in The 34th Ryder Cup Matches at The De Vere Belfry.
