Cleeve Hill GC appoints Legacy Golf Advisors to plan for future growth

11.50am 2nd February 2022 - Management Topics

Cleeve Hill Golf Club in Gloucestershire has appointed Legacy Golf Advisors to assist with the recruitment of a new general manager and develop ongoing partnership to offer advice and support as the club continues to establish itself following its recent change of ownership.

Twelve months ago, Cleeve Hill Golf Club was saved from closure when it was purchased by The Cotswold Hub Co, and since then the club gone from strength to strength with 2021 proving to be an extremely successful year for the new owners.

Nick Hovey, co-founder of Cotswold Hub Co, commented: “We knew Cleeve Hill was a very special place, and we have been delighted with the positivity we have received in the first year of our ownership. The golf industry has been incredibly supportive, and the history and heritage of Cleeve Hill is something that people have really bought into. To have such strong links to Old Tom Morris and Alister Mackenzie is great, and it is our job to ensure we do their connection justice.

He added: “We are delighted to have started working with Legacy Golf Advisors. There is a clear synergy in how we both see the future of Cleeve Hill, and the experience and expertise within the LGA team is second to none.’

Alongside offering ongoing advisory services, LGA will be leading the recruitment for a new manager for the club under the title ‘Keeper of the Hill’. A throwback to the era of Old Tom Morris and shows the different approach that will be taken at Cleeve Hill.

Stuart Gillett from LGA commented: “I don’t think anything can prepare you for the reality of what Cleeve Hill is and has. It is only when you set foot on the hill, 1,000 feet above sea level, with simply stunning 360-degree views, that you realise how incredibly special it is. We are extremely proud to have been chosen to help shape the future of Cleeve Hill.”
