On Thursday 3rd April 2003 the golf industry will be putting down their order books and picking up their golf clubs to raise money for grass roots junior golf. The British Golf Industry Association has organised the event at Woburn Golf and Country Club as a way of reinvesting in the future of the game.
Bob Smith, Chairman of the BGIA said, “The companies who benefit financially from the sport have a responsibility to put something back. All the money generated will be donated to The Golf Foundation who help to develop and promote junior golf throughout the British Isles.”
The event, which will be played on the Marquess course, has attracted a large number of leading companies, including; The Dunlop Slazenger Group, Callaway Golf Europe, EMAP Active, The PGA European Tour and Golf England. All are keen to play a part in supporting grass roots junior golf through The Golf Foundation.
For a player lucky enough to get a hole in one, PERRYS of Milton Keynes are donating, to the Foundation, a brand new Peugeot car. Money for The Golf Foundation will also be raised through a raffle and auction with prizes including a golfing holiday in Spain for a week, tickets to Twickenham to see England play rugby, a weekend breakaway and various signed items of sporting memorabilia.
