The Golfing Union of Ireland has today launched its new and improved website at www.gui.ie.
The new design is easy to navigate and is extremely user friendly. This is reflected in the layout of the site with an easy to use navigation bar remaining static on every page for access to National and Provincial sections.
Some of the enhanced areas of the site include:
Championships and Entry Forms
The addition of entry forms and conditions for all national and provincial events in an easy to use section will make entry to the events quite simple. All national entry forms and most of the provincial forms are available on the website.
Club Listings
A new search option makes it easy for users to find the information they need regarding each affiliated golf club, i.e. addresses, telephone, fax numbers, email addresses, course measurements, green fee rates and if the use of soft spikes is mandatory.
News
One of the most impressive features of the new site is the inclusion of images with all news articles. The latest news items appear on the homepage.
Results
The results section of the site can be searched by keyword, making it easy to call results for an individual or club in a competition. The results will be archived every year.
Gallery
The photo gallery gives users the opportunity to access photographs from events around the country.
Provinces
Each of the four Provincial Branches has its own dedicated section on the website. This provides the facility for each branch to upload its respective news, results and picture gallery.
Societies
The full list of registered societies is posted on the site and can be accessed by searching the name of the society. This will prove to be a useful tool for hon. secretaries and secretary/managers in finding out the status of a society registered with the GUI.
Newsletter
The GUI newsletter, introduced in 2002 will operate from the GUI system rather than a third party supplier.
GOLFnet
Access to GOLFnet (Centralised Database of Handicaps) is available by clicking on the link in the GUI’s new website.
Publications
The GUI official magazine, Charter for Junior Golf and the GUI Yearbook are all featured on the new site. The Charter for Junior Golf is available for download in PDF format.
The President of the Golfing Union of Ireland, Mr Michael O‘Donoghue, said, “We are delighted with the new website developed for us by EG Consulting. The GUI are leading the way in the field of technology, with the advent of GOLFnet, a state of the art network with the four Provincial Branches and now our new website which will allow our administration team to update their sites with the simplest of ease while allowing the user to access valuable information.
