Scottish Golf cancels three National Championships

8.52am 26th February 2021 - Coronavirus News

Scottish Golf has cancelled three of its major national amateur championship events for 2021, and has no plans to reschedule them for later this year due to likely fixture congestion.

The Scottish Boys’ Open Championship, the Scottish Girls’ Open Championship and the Helen Holm Scottish Women’s Open Championship, all of which were due take place in April, at Lundin, Longnidry and Royal Troon respectively, have been scratched from the schedule of tournament for 2021.

The decisions were made in light of current Covid19 restrictions in Scotland and to avoid creating additional pressure on tee sheets at the host venues, and to avoid fixture clashes later in the season.

Scottish Golf has said that decisions about all upcoming National Open Events will be made at the closing date; decisions about National Closed Events will be made two weeks before the practice day, while details about National Club Events will be made one week before the event start date.
