The Ladies’ Golf Union is delighted to announce that Peugeot has become their first ‘official partner’ and will be involved in several elements of the LGU’s tournaments and administration.
The contract between Peugeot, part of PSA Peugeot Citroen, Europe’s second biggest car manufacturer, and the LGU is initially for 3 years and will result in a number of vehicles being provided for staff at St Andrews. In addition, a tournament support van will be supplied to transport equipment from venue to venue as the LGU take their championships to courses throughout the country.
In return, Peugeot will become the title sponsors of the Coronation Foursomes with the attendant opportunities for promotional activities and advertising in support of the tournament.
Commenting on the new agreement, Andy Salmon, CEO of the Ladies’ Golf Union said, “We are delighted to receive the support of Peugeot as Coronation Foursomes title sponsors which enables us to extend the services that we offer to our members and to develop the Coronation Foursomes further. Our agreement with Peugeot extends beyond the Coronation Foursomes and we are delighted to welcome Peugeot as our first ever official partner to the LGU.”
Steve Harris, manager, marketing partnerships, for Peugeot said, “The Coronation Foursomes is now well established as the biggest competition for lady golfers in the British Isles and Peugeot are delighted to have the opportunity to support this event and ladies’ golf in general.”
The Peugeot Coronation Foursomes is a handicap stroke play tournament that starts with competing clubs running a qualifying event in the spring. The winning pair from each club then qualify to play in one of eleven area finals, the winners going forward to the grand final, which will be played on the New Course, St Andrews on 6th October.
