Golf in Cyprus back in full swing

12.31am 27th May 2020 - Travel

Cyprus’s four golf courses – Aphrodite Hills PGA National, Eléa, Minthis and Secret Valley – have reopened their doors to members and visitors during the first phase of easing the lockdown restrictions.

Cyprus has become renowned worldwide for its favourable epidemiologic data and each golf club continues to reduce any potential risk by strictly following the government guidelines and all stipulated safety protocols. Additional rules for ‘Safe Play’ have been implemented with the highest professionalism, making the new golf experience seamlessly social rather than socially distant.

With the island’s two airports set to reopen in two phases for selected countries from June 9 and  June 20 respectively, and hotels also soon to reopen, visitors from selected countries will soon be able to visit Cyprus.

Cyprus’s Transport, Communications and Works Minister Yiannis Karousos said that the Council of Ministers approved the lists of a total of 19 countries from which flights will be allowed on June 9, and decided to restore air connectivity in two phases.

He said the two groups were defined according to their coronavirus epidemiological status. Group A includes Greece, Malta, Bulgaria, Norway, Austria, Finland, Slovenia, Hungary, Israel, Denmark, Germany, Slovakia and Lithuania. Group B includes Switzerland, Poland, Romania, Croatia, Estonia and the Czech Republic. Other countries will be added to the two lists depending on the development of their epidemiological status.

Karousos said that people from countries on both lists will be allowed to board a plane only after presenting a coronavirus negative certificate of a test made within 72 hours before the flight. People arriving from Group A countries will not be required to have a test certificate after the start of the second phase on June 20, but those coming from Group B countries will still be required to have a test certificate.

People from countries which are not currently listed in groups A or B, which includes the UK, will not be allowed to enter Cyprus until further notice.
