Tour players give their support to fund battle against COVID-19

11.11am 6th April 2020 - Coronavirus News

Tour players from around the world are playing their part in supporting initiatives and organisations to help those affected by Coronavirus.

Major Champion Sergio Garcia is among many Spanish professional sportsmen and women who have pledged support to the Red Cross of Spain with a personal donation of €240,000.

The Garcia family joined the initiative to raise funds towards the €11 million goal, joining fellow sports stars such as Rafael Nadal and Pau Gasol, along with Iker Casillas, Julen Lopetegui, David Ferrer, Teresa Perales and many more.

The money raised will go towards efforts in helping more than 1.35 million people affected by the COVID-19 crisis in Spain.

Two-time Major Champion Martin Kaymer has launched a fundraising campaign through the Martin Kaymer Helianthus Foundation on the Gofundme platform to help those affected by the coronavirus, making an initial donation of €50,000. Money donated will be split equally to support organisations in Germany, Italy and South Africa – three countries close to Kaymer’s heart.

Meanwhile, Italy’s Edoardo Molinari is raising funds for hospitals in Turin with a daily quiz on his golf academy’s Instagram page.
