The 2020 Golf Industry Conference will focus upon the climate and its effect on golf when Scotland’s largest education event for turf professionals takes place next month. Hosted by BIGGA on Tuesday 3 March, the event is presented by The R&A and Circle Golf and will be hosted by television presenter Alison Walker.
The conference takes place at Dunblane Doubletree Hotel (pictured above) and will see presentations from Carolyn Hedley of Scottish Golf, Steve Isaac and Richard Windows of The R&A and John Kemp of the GEO Foundation, among others.
Also speaking will be Alex Hill, the former Met Office advisor to the Government and now STV weather presenter. Alex will set the scene for delegates by discussing the changing weather of Scotland and what this can mean for the country in making it more resilient in terms of golf course design.
Richard Windows of The R&A will present another interesting session, this one describing how climate change and extreme weather will impact the condition, playability and management of Scottish golf courses. Best practice agronomic and greenkeeping solutions will be described, as will how best to adapt maintenance programmes to cope with the challenges posed to help minimise the threat of deteriorating playing performance.
The event costs £40 for BIGGA members and £60 for non-members.
Special thanks go to BIGGA Scotland’s conference partners Agrovista Amenity, Aitkens, GOSTA Training, Greentech, GroGreen, Hunter/KAR UK, OnCourse, the PGA, Scottish Golf, SRUC, Enviro Centre and John Young Signs.
