The European Tour has announced the appointment of Stuart Gillett to the European Tour Destinations team. Stuart will join Ian Knox in heading up European Tour Destinations.

An experienced director and general manager within the golf club and hospitality industry, Stuart joins European Tour Destinations from Golf at Goodwood – part of the iconic Goodwood Estate – where he has held the role of General Manager since 2011.

Stuart’s experience across golf and hospitality includes the role of Director of Golf and Leisure at Heythrop Park Resort in Oxfordshire – where he was responsible for the opening of a £5million Tom McKenzie designed golf course and exclusive members health club development.

He was previously General Manager of Mill Ride Golf Club in Berkshire and Deputy General Manager of Bearwood Lakes Golf Club, a venue which is ranked in Golf Monthly’s top 100 courses.

In his new role the 45 year old will be responsible for promoting the European Tour Destinations network of world class destinations, which includes 31 venues across 20 countries and three continents.

Keith Waters, European Tour Chief Operating Officer, said: “We are delighted to welcome Stuart to the European Tour Destinations team. His wealth of experience in both the golf club and hospitality industries will be a great asset as we continue to grow and develop our world class network of venues, and we look forward to welcoming him aboard.”

Stuart Gillett said: “I’m excited to be joining the team at European Tour Destinations after almost nine years leading Golf at Goodwood, where I was grateful to have the opportunity to learn, develop and grow as an individual at such a special place and with the support of a great team. I’m now looking forward to the next chapter and working alongside Ian and the team to support and develop the European Tour Destinations brand and network.”

Ian Knox, Head of Operations, European Tour Destinations, added: “It is an exciting time for the European Tour Destinations brand, as we strengthen our relationship with the European Tour in their quest to Drive Golf Further. The addition of Stuart’s wealth of knowledge and experience will only help to build on the support we give to our existing Destinations as well as welcoming new venues to the network.”
