2.33pm 11th October 2019 - Growing the Game

The UK Golf Federation who represent proprietary golf courses and driving ranges in the UK have joined the All Party Parliamentary Golf Group. Craig Tracey MP is Co-Chairman of the APPG Golf Group which looks to work closely with the key stakeholders in the golf industry improving industry focus with round table discussions and engage and influence across a broad remit of opportunities using their unique position to support the future development of golf.

Richard Haygarth – Chairman of the UK Golf Federation

Many golf clubs have struggled with dropping membership and participation over the last few years. The UK Golf Federation believes it key that they work with all the major associations and partners in golf to find ways of growing participation and ultimately membership.  So, to become a member of the APPG Golf will help the UK Golf Federation find new ways of promoting the game and its future development.

The APPG recently announced changes to their membership structure and that various tiers of membership had been removed and these will cease completely by summer 2020. They will continue to hold regular industry focused meetings, parliamentary receptions and round table discussions with interested Parliamentarians.

Richard Haygarth – Chairman of the UK Golf Federation comments “it is the aim of the UK Golf Federation’s Members to be at the centre of the game with all the key stakeholders, growing participation and the golf industry, our members offer easy and quick access to trying and playing golf and we believe our new position within the APPG Golf will enable us to use our skills and knowledge to help develop the long term future of golf”

Doug Poole – CEO of the UK Golf Federation believes “ our members are investing heavily in all their courses and driving ranges and offering quality golf facilities that give a unique experience to families coming and enjoying a real fun-golf day out, whilst still catering for the regular keen golfer who wants the full 18-hole experience.

Having over 350 golf facility members the UK Golf Federation offers an easy and relaxed pathway to trying golf and fully supports “growing golf participation though their open access golf facilities “
