Representatives from the Golf Foundation, the Golf Course Managers Association, the Professional Golfers Association, the PGA European Tour, the Ladies European Tour, the Ladies Golf Union, The R&A and officials from each of the four home nations met to discuss matters of common interest ranging from junior golf to amateur status, to Olympic golf.
Originally comprising the PGA and the four men’s home unions, the Forum began in the mid-1990s, holding its twice yearly meetings at the Belfry. Shortly thereafter, The R&A was invited to join and, since then, it has grown to include organisations responsible for all aspects of the game.
“The Golf Forum provides an excellent opportunity for representatives from a wide range of golfing bodies to exchange views on issues about which they are concerned,” said The R&A’s Chief Executive, Peter Dawson. “We value our participation and look forward to contributing to discussion whenever the Forum is convened.”
The next Golf Forum meeting will be held in St Andrews in November, at which the agenda will include a review of the World Amateur Team Championships, being played in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in October.
