1.00pm 22nd July 2019 - Exhibitions & Conferences

Josef Fahlén

The Club Managers Association of Europe (CMAE) European Conference on Club Management returns on 17-19 November 2019 and the first of an impressive line up of speakers has been announced.

Josef Fahlén, Associate Professor at the Department of Education, Umeå University, Sweden will present on club governance, specifically how the breaking of any ‘Implied Contract’ is most often the reasons that clubs fail.

Fahlén, who conducts research on the intersection between public policy, sport policy and the organisation of non-profit and membership-based club sport, will explain how ‘social contracts’ are made between the club leadership and the members and how to avoid the problems created when such contracts are broken.

The two-day CMAE’s European Conference takes place at Clube Naval de Cascais,  11 miles west of Lisbon. Those booking their place before 31 August will benefit from an early bird discount of £444, representing a £56 reduction of the full fee of £500.
