Third term for Relais du Golf and PGAE

Relais du Golf, the directory of the world’s best golf hotels and resorts, has signed a new five-year corporate partnership agreement with the PGA of Europe thereby extending their relationship as’Partners in Excellence’ to a 15-year period of joint growth.

The third such term was agreed between Relais du Golf managing director Kirsten Branum-Burns and PGAE general secretary Lawrence Thornton.

In rubber-stamping their latest deal they jointly expressed total satisfaction that the link between a collection of the finest golfing locations around the globe and the Association with a membership of 33 PGAs, and some 12,000 individual professionals, was both natural and mutually beneficial.

A random browse through Relais du Golf’s ‘Luxury Collection’ reveals such enviable locations as the De Vere Belfry (UK), Cambridge Beaches (Bermuda), Le Paradis (Mauritius), Royal Parc, Evian, France, many in Spain and Portugal and several in the USA, including The Cloister & The Sea Island GC, PGA National, Mauna Kea (Hawaii) and others of similar stature.

In welcoming the continuing corporate partnership arrangement, Jaime Ortiz-Patino, president of the PGA of Europe, commented, “I long ago realised the appeal of creating a golf course in superb surroundings with excellent facilities and hospitality and my dream led to the development of Valderrama Golf Club, host to the 1997 Ryder Cup.

“It is a philosophy that was also recognized by Relais du Golf, now the world’s leading golf tourism organization. Together Relais du Golf and the PGA of Europe grant official recognition to worldwide, high-profile golf hotels and resorts who have satisfied high standards for their guests.”
