Carnoustie Golf Links has re-opened its academy short course, The Nestie, following a major renovation.

The course’s grand re-opening took place on April 26 as part of launch the Carnoustie Craws Junior Golf Academy’s new season.

The Nestie is a short course that is free to play, and is ideal for encouraging kids, families and beginners into the game.

Carnoustie’s greenkeeping team spent the winter converting the previous six-hole course  into a more exciting five-hole design, with a greater variety of shot lengths. Work carried out on the course included the re-building of all the tees and greens, and the addition of two bunkers.

The Carnoustie Craws launch night marked the beginning of another landmark season for the junior programme at the Links, which sees almost 200 juniors, more than a third of which are girls, between the ages of 5 and 14 signed up to take part in weekly coaching and playing sessions.
