BIGGA plans Continue to Learn programme for BTME 2020

1.15pm 10th April 2019 - Exhibitions & Conferences

BIGGA has announced that planning is underway for its world-leading annual education programme, with responsibility for selecting the content turned over to its members once again.

BIGGA has launched the Members’ Choice survey, which allows its members to vote for the education that they would like to form the Continue to Learn education programme, which takes place each January alongside the BIGGA Turf Management Exhibition (BTME).

The survey has been distributed to all greenkeeper members of BIGGA, and includes over 200 suggested educational topics for them to choose from. Potential topics are gathered through BIGGA’s annual ‘Proposal to Present’ system, where individual and companies can submit their ideas for future programmes.

The Members’ Choice survey takes into account the job role of the respondent, enabling BIGGA to create programmes that are tailored to the needs of members, wherever they may be on their career journey.

Continue to Learn at BTME is the most comprehensive education programme for greenkeeping professionals outside of the USA and attracts in excess of 3,000 attendees each year.

Continue to Learn evolves each year through the introduction of new topics, speakers and events. The 2019 programme saw the introduction of a Deputies’ Conference to complement the successful Turf Managers’ and Young Greenkeepers’ conferences. Almost 100 attendees engaged in the Deputies’ Conference, gaining access to education that was directly applicable to their role.

Sami Strutt, BIGGA’s head of member development, said: “BIGGA’s aim is to provide education that is absolutely tailored to meet the needs of our members. The Members’ Choice survey provides them with the opportunity to shape the content of their education programme, ensuring that the learning is relevant and further enhancing the knowledge and professionalism that is a trait of BIGGA members and golf greenkeepers.”

Continue to Learn at BTME will take place at Harrogate Convention Centre from Sunday 19 to Wednesday 22 January 2020, running alongside BTME, which takes will be held at the same venue from Tuesday 21 to Thursday 22 January 2020.
