Italian tour professional Guido Migliozzi kept cool under pressure in the African sunshine last weekend to capture his first European Tour title and another first for the Galvin Green partnership with Niall Horan’s Modest! Golf management group.

European Tour rookie Guido Migliozzi won the Kenyan Open

“Guido has made all of us at Modest! very proud with his amazing win in Kenya and shown just how well the partnership with Galvin Green to support promising young players on Tour has worked out,” said Horan.

Migliozzi was the very first player to be signed by Modest! Golf and was immediately supported by Galvin Green in 2016. His progress has been impressive since then, winning three times on The Alps Tour between 2017 and 2018, and securing his European Tour status through the Qualifying School last November.

“We were very excited to sign Guido back in 2016,” commented Greg Pearse, Managing Director for Galvin Green UK & Ireland. “He has put in a huge amount of hard work to capitalise on his exceptional talent and to win on just his 14th start on the European Tour is simply fantastic for him and the Galvin Green brand.”

As one of three players wearing Galvin Green’s camo-style Edge clothing line on Tour this season, the 22-year-old Italian rookie has boosted awareness of the latest collection while moving up to 26th spot on the Tour’s Race to Dubai.

“I love pressure. I love playing with a lot of people looking at me and a lot of cameras,” said Migliozzi, who first signed as a brand ambassador with Galvin Green in 2017 as part of an arrangement with player management company Modest! Golf to provide quality performance clothing for young players with Tour potential.

Migliozzi modelled Galvin Green’s new Edge collection for its launch earlier this year and wears the clothing on tour

“Guido’s stellar performance in Kenya has given the Edge range a tremendous boost, and justified our faith in him as the ‘face’ of the collection that challenges conventions in golf gear,” said Nicholai Stein, Galvin Green Global Brand Manager.

Commenting on his clothing, Migliozzi said: “Galvin Green is bringing fashion trends into the golf market. To wear the Edge range, which has a high level of performance alongside looking great, is the perfect combination. It’s one thing having clothing that looks great, but it needs to perform and help me perform better – which it does. The products are so breathable and light to play in.”

Playing in warm temperatures in Nairobi, Migliozzi carded a total of 23 birdies for a -16 score and a one-shot victory. He even hit the pin with his approach shot on the final hole to illustrate the level of his control under sustained pressure. His fellow Galvin Green ambassador, South African Christiaan Bezuidenhout, finished tied 9th in the tournament for his second consecutive top-10 finish.

The latest Edge garments are designed with a military theme and feature jackets, jumpers, shirts, caps and belts in green, grey and blue colour variations available in sizes XS-XXL. For details, visit www.galvingreen.com
