Callaway driver Wins ‘Battle Of The Brands’ At American Golf

9.08am 25th February 2019 - Corporate

Across a week at the start of February, 934 American Golf customers took on the ‘Battle of the Brands Driver test’ and found the Callaway Epic Flash to produce the biggest distance increase, with an average improvement of 8.3 yards.

Overall, the 934 testers recorded an impressive 26,220 yards improvement from all drivers hit, enough to play St Andrews’ Old Course over three and a half times. While Callaway took top spot, each of the four drivers on test – TaylorMade M5/M6, Callaway Epic Flash, Cobra F9 Speedback and Wilson D7 – showed a significant average increase from the testers own current driver.

Highlights among the testers were a monster 364-yard drive unleashed with the TaylorMade M5/M6 and the biggest increase from a testers own driver of 67 yards, also from the Taylormade M5/M6.

Conrad Edkins, Director of Marketing at American Golf was delighted with the popularity of the challenge. He said: “This has to be one of the largest ever sample sizes for a head-to-head driver test. The results were fantastic too, with virtually every tester making significant distance gains thanks to the new technology available from these four brands. This is the kind of thing that most golfers only ever read about in the golf media, so I think they had a lot of fun coming in store to test out the latest equipment for themselves.”

So popular was the Battle of the Brands driver test, that American Golf has rolled out the concept for irons. Between February 21 and March 1, golfers can go to any American Golf store with their 7-iron and test out their best strike against the latest technology from Callaway, Cobra, TaylorMade, Wilson and Ping. The biggest distance-gainers will be entered into a prize draw to win a custom fitted set of those irons.
