The Renaissance Club, one of the newest additions to the world-famous stretch known as Scotland’s Golf Coast, is delighted to celebrate its 10th Anniversary with the announcement that the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open will return to East Lothian next year when it hosts Scotland’s National Open on the European Tour for the first time from July 8-14, 2019. This will be followed by the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open, which will once again be played over the same course, from August 5-11, 2019.
The Renaissance Club offers classic links golf and was designed by renowned golf course architect Tom Doak, known for his minimalist designs that incorporate the natural features of the land.
Jerry Sarvadi, CEO of The Renaissance Club commented; “We are delighted to be hosting the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open and Ladies Scottish Open for the first time and to continue Aberdeen Standard Investments’ and Visit Scotland’s innovative strategy of playing both the men’s and ladies tournaments on the same course within the same month. As part of our commitment to hosting Scotland’s two national opens, we have pledged to continue to support the golf tourism industry in Scotland by targeting additional visiting golfers from around the world. Additionally, we will work with both VisitScotland and Scottish Golf to support and fund women and junior golf development initiatives and make our practice facilities available to Scottish Golf’s amateur squads during preparation for major events.”
Martin Gilbert, Chief Executive of Aberdeen Standard Investments said: “We are delighted to have selected The Renaissance Club as our new venue for 2019. The Renaissance Club’s course is a true test of Links golf and we anticipate fierce competition over the course for the men’s and ladies editions next year.”
“The Renaissance Club is a spectacular course and together with our tournament partners we will continue to host our events at the best possible venues which showcase Scotland in all its glory to an ever-increasing global TV audience”.
In time for this event, the Club is delighted to announce that they have started work on two new villa retreats, which will be completed by May 2019, overlooking the 14th tee, the Firth of Forth and neighbouring championship course, Muirfield. These villas will provide additional exceptional accommodation and business facilities, including conference rooms for up to 40 people.
“With the added developments to the club, we aim to set the club on a long-term path, creating the legacy of a world class golf club” commented Jerry. “The Sarvadi family commitment to this club has been, and will remain, far more than just an investment but rather a testimony of our dedication to the great game of golf and our love of the ‘home of golf’, East Lothian, Scotland. We are very thankful for the ten-year partnership with Archerfield Estates Limited, which formed and established the Renaissance Club and we look forward to welcoming visitors to the Scottish Opens next year and to our fabulous new Retreats.”
Paul Sarvadi, Chairman & Co-Founder of The Renaissance Club and Insperity Inc. commented; “We are very proud of the Renaissance Club’s first 10 years. Our success has been the result of our family’s passion for golf and the collaboration of the entire Scottish golfing community. Hosting Scotland’s National Open and our over £4million investment in the villas mark important milestones in our club’s history, reflecting our commitment to providing state of the art facilities, unapparelled service, and a championship-worthy links venue.”
Over the past decade, the Renaissance Club has hosted the British Boys Amateur Championship in 2016, the Scottish Senior Open in 2017 and the World Amateur Tour 2018. The Renaissance Club continues to build upon its excellent relationship with the R&A following on from hosting top class players from around the world as a Final Qualifying venue for The Open Championship for the first time this Summer before becoming the ASI Scottish Opens venue in 2019.
Commented Paul, “While proud of our first 10 years, we are even more excited about our next 10 years.”
