Golf England has signed up golf and health club operator Crown Sports to join its nationwide golf club network.
The deal sees Crown Sports’ nine golf clubs signing up to the Golf England scheme allowing their members and visiting Golf England members to use the new smart card technology to update their handicaps.
Golf England members will further benefit from the deal, as they can have a free trial at the Crown Sports health clubs and will enjoy a 50% reduction in their joining fee before receiving a 10% reduction on the monthly rates.
The Dragons Health clubs, operated by Crown Sports, offer swimming pools, spas, gym facilities and some boast physiotherapy and sports massage services.
Along with other golf clubs that have already signed up to the Golf England scheme, the Crown Sports clubs can opt to use the centrally operated tee time booking service and the group-purchasing scheme.
John Weir, managing director of Crown Sports’ golf division said, “We are very supportive of the Golf England programme and its ambitions to generate funds to revitalise the game in this country. Not only do we see the benefits to the game as a whole but we at Crown can use the programme to attract more members to our golf and health clubs. We may even be able to sharpen our purchasing by accessing the group purchasing facility.”
